Copperplate and Cursive writing of English alphabets are excellent. As a matter of fact, I'm training them in order to write fine letters in English. One of my acquaintances is marvelous writer of English. He is always training his letter-writing, nevertheless he has already mastered very fine writing skill. His writing is terrific!
Then I was wondering what is most beautiful writing of Japanese character. "Sousho," or cursive style of writing Chinese characters and "Hiragana" with "Mouhitsu," or writing brush are the ones I found most beautiful. However, "Mouhitu," writing brushes are inconvenient because those need so many tools. At last, I decided to train "Sousho" with fountain pens.
These works are "Tanka," Japanese poem of thirty‐one syllables I wrote today. (The picture above is Mr.Iwata's)
実は、私もカッパープレートやカーシブ・ライティングの練習をしている。
日本語はどうだろうと考えた時、どうしても毛筆で書かれた古書が頭に浮かぶ。毛筆で書くのには、墨や硯を用意しなければならない。筆ペンでは、本当の毛筆の味は出ない。
そこで、万年筆で草書や変体仮名を使って、なんとか日本語の美しさを表せないものかと思い及んだ。
