Heritage Rouge & Noir Tropic Brown Special Edition
－ As remembrance of "Agatha Christie" Edition －
I've long been entranced by the Montblanc Agatha Christie Writer's Edition-that serpent clip and nib are so fabulous. When Montblanc announced the Heritage Rouge et Noir edition, I fell in love immediately. I mean, what's not to love? The Montblanc pen in black and a serpent clip and a serpent nib-all for a price significantly less than an Agatha? The Montblanc Heritage Rouge et Noir is part of a retro series Montblanc embarked on with the Heritage 1912.
The Heritage Rouge et Noir series-one in black, one in coral, and one in black ebonite-hearken back to the 1906 safety-pens, though the modern ones are piston fillers. Taking a cue from the past, the pens have large snowcaps/stars on their finials and a retro-looking serpent clip. I knew I had to have one.
Thus, at first I bought the black Rouge et Noir edition, not coral edition. The coral edition has two-tone wonderful nib but for me the color of body is too shinny to hold in my hand and the nib is a little hard because of inlaid gold and palladium coating. In that point, because black edition and brown edition has pure plate nibs, writing touches are both soft that I like.
Then one year later (2017), Montblanc announced again the brown edition which has the same serpent clip with red spinals for eyes. The color of brown makes the pen looking very retro and especially not flashy, I love it.
The price is the highest of the three editions (coral, black and this brown), though, I think it less expensive comparing with other Montblanc special editions like writer editions such as "Hemingway," "Friedrich von Schiller, and "Edgar Allan Poe."

＜モンブラン ヘリテイジ コレクション ルージュ&ノワール スペシャルエディション トロピックブラウン＞モンブランのヘリテイジコレクションでは、何と言っても「ヘミング」が一番の人気だと思う。事実、新品の状態なら売り出された時の価格の４、５倍の値段で売買されている。ヘミングウェイには強い憧れがあるが、他にも作家シリーズで魅力のあるものがある。フリードリッヒ・シラーやエドガー・アラン・ポーも魅力がある。しかし、ヘミングウェイと同様にレトロ感が漂うアガサ・クリスティーには、とりわけ魅了されていた。
作家シリーズで持っているのは、2013年のオノレ・ド・バルザックだけだが、これも気に入っている。バルザック以降、モンブランの作家シリーズは少し手を抜いているように感じる。パトロンシリーズにも良いものがあるが、値段が高すぎる。装飾のために値がはるのは私の好みではない。筆記具として優れているものであれば、装飾は二の次に考える。
モンブランがアガサクリスティー・エディションを模して、ヘリテイジコレクションのルージュ・エ・ノワールを出すと聞いた時、驚きと共に大いに興味を持った。最初はコーラル（赤軸）しかなく、これは、私の手に合わないと思った。ついで、ブラック・エディションが出た時、これは、アガサの再来かと思うほどに、そっくりだった。ただ、軸の太さが大分違う。しかし、ペン先の作りも良く、ソフトな書き味だったので、これを買うことにした。
同じ時に試したが、コーラル・エディションはニブが２色に象嵌されていて、その分、硬く思った。ブラック・エディションはニブが銀色の一色で柔らかい。ブラック・エディションに味を占めた私は、昨年（2017年）の秋に出たブラウン・エディションにも興味を持ち、試し書きするととても柔らかい。ブラック・エディション（後に紹介する予定）のペン先が銀色のものと、ブラウンの金色は、蛇の模様が彫り込まれていて、アクセントはそれだけで良いと思う。
ちなみに、ブラックは中字を買ったので、ブラウンは細字にした。普段使いにペンケースに入れて持ち歩いている。ただ一つの難点は、インク窓がないので、インク補充を定期的にしなければならないことだが、これもまた楽しみにしている。
